About the Doctor

Dr. Ava Kamenshchik
Dr. Ava Kamenshchik grew up on Long Island. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree (Summa Cum Laude) at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY and then went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from SUNY Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine. She received many awards throughout her dental school career and was inducted into the selective Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society.
After dental school, Dr. Ava completed a one year General Practice Residency program affiliated with Stony Brook University Hospital, where she learned advanced techniques in crown and bridge work, implant restorations, root canal therapy, pediatric dental care, periodontal and oral surgeries, as well as anesthesia and operating room dentistry. She was then accepted into the highly competitive residency program for orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics at Stony Brook University's School of Dental Medicine. During her three years at this program, she was trained in all aspects of orthodontics, including braces for children and adults, Invisalign clear aligner therapy, surgical orthodontics, temporary anchorage devices (TADs), treatment of patients with cleft palate and other craniofacial anomalies. She has presented orthodontic cases as well as her research at regional and national orthodontic meetings.
Being committed to clinical excellence, Dr. Ava achieved Board Certification status after successfully completing the rigorous examination process given by the American Board of Orthodontists (ABO), in 2017.
Dr. Ava Kamenshchik is currently a Clinical Assistant Professor of Orthodontics at Stony Brook University’s School of Dental Medicine, her alma mater. In her faculty position, she teaches undergraduate Dental Students and post-graduate Orthodontic Residents the theory and science of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics both in and out of the clinical setting.
She currently resides on Long Island and enjoys cooking, baking and being with her family in her free time.
