What age should my child be seen by an Orthodontist?

The American Academy of Orthodontists (AAO) recommends that your child have their first orthodontic check-up by age 7. At this time, the child will most likely have their first set of adult molars (6 year molars), as well as some adult teeth in the front (incisors). During childhood, the dental effects of previous habits may remain, such as thumb sucking or a tongue thrust.

At your initial consultation with Dr. Ava, your child’s teeth and bite will be analyzed, and early intervention may be recommended if such problems exist. Although you may think it is too early for braces, there are certain orthodontic issues that can and should be addressed sooner rather than later. If there are no issues in which immediate attention is recommended, parents can benefit from having peace of mind that their child is watched over by an orthodontist.

Call us today for a complimentary consultation for your child, in order to adequately assess their orthodontic needs. Don’t forget, Always Orthodontics has a gag-free policy. There are no more goopy orthodontic impressions to fear, and that’s something that keeps kids of all ages smiling about!
